The Extremities Solution: Flexible Limb Immobilization Strategies in Radiation Therapy
Limb immobilization poses unique challenges in radiation therapy due to the wide range of limb movements and the necessity for individualized treatment approaches. It is crucial to ensure impeccable reproducibility while prioritizing patient comfort. The clinical utilization of vacuum bags and thermoplastic masks has become increasingly prevalent to address these requirements. These advanced methods offer tailored immobilization solutions, maximizing treatment precision, reproducibility, and patient comfort throughout the radiation therapy.

Challenge of breast cancer radiotherapy
Since the heart and lung positions are very close to the irradiation target area, protecting the heart and lung has always been an important consideration in breast radiotherapy. As seen from the anatomic relationship, the lungs are close to the chest wall, the heart is just in front of the left chest wall, and the inner side of the left chest wall is close to the front wall of the heart, with short distance to the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD). This anatomic structure easily makes the heart and lungs over-irradiated, thus inducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and radiation pneumonia.

Klarity SBRT System is a promising alternative to the BodyFix system for Spine SBRT
Recently, Enzhuo Quan et al. from the Radiation Physics Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center published a study of a postural fixation protocol for stereotactic radiation therapy (SBRT) of spinal tumours in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics. The researchers selected two commonly used SBRT fixation Solutions, the Klarity SBRT System and the Elekta BodyFIX System, to conduct a comparative study on initial setup accuracy, set-up stability & efficiency, and operational convenience for medical staff.

An easier way to realize MR Sim
An easy and economical way to realize MR Sim with the clinic's existing diagnostic MRI. And the key to using a diagnostic MRI as good as enough for MR Sim is to guarantee the same patient position between MR Sim and CT Sim for ideal image fusion and the same position in the treatment delivery process.
